Yes. Transport, delivery, setup, and tuning are included in my hire packages, so everything is ready when and where you need it.

Some of the instruments can be tuned to a range of historical pitches (e.g. 392, 415, 440, 466 Hz). Details are provided with each instrument, and I am happy to discuss the tuning of historical temperaments.

I tune many different historical temperaments, such as Werckmeister, Vallotti, Kirnberger, Young, Zarlino, and different mean tone temperaments. I also design my own and advise players about the most practical temperament for the repertoire (for recording or concert).

The earlier the better. Advance notice allows us to plan transport and tuning schedules efficiently, which can also help keep costs down.

A plectrum, which plucks the strings of a harpsichord, was historically made from bird feathers. Raven feathers were preferred for their size and durability, but because they were rare, crow feathers were often used instead.

I enjoy working with a variety of temperaments — it doesn’t always have to be Vallotti. Some artists even bring me their own designs, which I’m always happy to realise. Exploring different temperaments can be a lot of fun!
